Celebrate World Refugee Day

World Refugee Day is on June 20, 2013!  This is an occasion to raise awareness about the unique health needs and strengths of refugees. It is also an opportunity to show the importance of health in refugee resettlement.

National Suicide Prevention Hotline

U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
24-hour national hotline that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress.  Lifeline supports languages spoken by refugees and other vulnerable populations. Interpretation services by phone are available at no cost to the caller.

US Preventive Services Task Force HIV Screening

U.S. Preventive Services Task Force
Recommendations on screening for HIV infection in adolescents and adults aged 15 to 65 years old. Younger adolescents and older adults who are at increased risk should also be screened.  In addition, all pregnant women should be screened for HIV, including those who present in labor who are untested and whose HIV status is unknown.
